Requirements: Grade 12/Matric or equivalent. Certificate that allow registration as Nursing Assistant with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Nursing Assistant Grade 1: with o experience required. Grade 2: minimum of 10 years’ appropriate/ recognisable experience after registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant. Grade 3: minimum of 20 years appropriate/ recognisable experience after registration with SANC as nursing Assistant. Other skills: Computer literacy ,Basic communication and writing skills. Ability to function in a team. Be responsive ,Pro-Active ,accurate initiative and work as a team. Job knowledge, interpersonal skills

Duties : Responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients and will function under the direct and/ or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. This includes caring for the patients , his possessions, documentation and the control and economical use of stock and equipment in the ward. Key work output and accountabilities. Always maintain professional conduct and standard in accordance with the SANC/Job Standard/Hospital policies. Promote and maintain good working and inter-personal relationships with management/patients/staff/ visitors /Doctors and colleagues. Co-ordinate nursing service activities with other departments.

Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of comprehensive care to patients, Co-ordinate all working activities to accommodate normal hospital routine. Perform other departmentally related duties e.g. Reinforcing ADL. Provide total nursing care to patients undergoing physical rehabilitation treatment, including, eliminatory nursing, monitoring vital signs. Intake and output monitoring, urine testing. Assist with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans. Maintain accurate and complete patient record. Participate in the education and support of patients and their families. Adhere to all infection control safety protocols.
