Nelson Mandela University known as Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, opened in 2005 after a merger between 3 institutions, namely the University of Port Elizabeth (UPE); the Port Elizabeth campus of Vista University (Vista PE) and the PE Technikon. However, the history of the institution dates back to 1882, when the Port Elizabeth Art School was founded.
NMU has 7 faculties, namely: Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences; Faculty of Education; Faculty of Engineering, The Built Environment and Technology; Faculty of Health Sciences; Faculty of Humanities; Faculty of Law and Faculty of Science. Across these faculties, students can choose from over 500 study programmes. The University is best known for art and design, building, chartered accounting, engineering, health and environmental sciences, and IT.

- Full academic record or transcripts (copy only)
- Documented evidence of contribution to society (testimonials which should include: project description, duration of involvement in in each project, difference the project and how many people benefited from the project)
Postgraduate students:
- ID document (copy only)
- Parents or guardians proof of income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed)
- Full academic record or transcripts (copy only)
