Position Purpose:

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the upkeep of the school building, gardens, and grounds.

Primary School Scholar Supervisor – SPARK Theresa Park – 2024

Reports To: School Operations Manager

Position Purpose:

SPARK Schools supervisors drive student achievement by overseeing the culture and effectiveness of lunch, break, and aftercare. SPARK Schools supervisors care for classes of students during lunch, break, and aftercare to ensure student achievement, health, and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise lunch and break during the instructional day.
  • Ensure SPARK’s healthy food scheme is enforced with scholars by checking lunches.

  • Plan engaging enrichment experiences for students for the lengthened aftercare on Monday afternoons.

High School Curriculum & Assessment Officer Mathematics – SPARK Schools

Purpose of Role:

The High School Curriculum and Assessment officer drives student achievement in the SPARK Schools network by ensuring that our curriculum is engaging and rigorous and that our assessment accurately measures student progress toward each individual’s achievement goals. The Curriculum and Assessment Officers’ support in the SPARK Schools network is integral to the SPARK Schools’ mission to create systemic change in South African education.

Reports To: Curriculum and Assessment Manager

Responsibilities:

SPARK Model Implementation

  • Drive the implementation of the curriculum and assessment model at SPARK Schools.
  • Monitor and evaluate a rigorous network-wide curriculum for the allocated subjects that aligns to and extends the South African national curriculum, including comprehensive assessments for all grades and all subjects.
  • Document and communicate the scope and sequence of curriculum for each grade level and subject in conjunction with internal assessments.
  • Demonstrate a relentless commitment to student achievement.

Resources and supplier management 

  • Adhere to the High school Blueprint and resource all schools in accordance with this. 
  • Engage suppliers linked to efficacy budget ( Flow up on order etc).
  • Recommend and source the appropriate curriculum resources as well as the effective implementation thereof.

Assessment

  • Creation of formative or summative assessment for subjects in the general portfolio.
  • Monitor and evaluate the formative assessment tracker and recommend appropriate strategies and interventions to support scholar progress. 
  • Implement, train and monitor the integration of scholar projects into the curriculum and annual teaching plan. 
  • Facilitate a network-wide assessment and data analysis cycle that allows school leaders to create  intervention programmes linked to the data analysis.
  • Monitor student performance and identify areas for school-wide targeted instruction.
  • Create  intervention programmes linked to data analysis.
  • Implement integrated learning tools, such as ATP and lesson plan templates, into online classroom procedures to assist in gathering assessment data, thereby enhancing understanding of student progress through a blended learning environment.
  • Generate and manage internal assessment schedules, logistics and reporting.
  • Monitor grade-level and phase-specific progress against the scope, sequence maps and assessments using data analysis.
  • Clearly communicate network-wide and school data to school leaders in order to ensure the accurate interpretation of student progress.

School-based Support 

  • Conduct weekly classroom observations linked to curriculum coverage.
  • Helps instructional coaches and educators to develop instructional strategies and intervention programmes.
  • Evaluate and monitor scholar improvement from intervention programmes.
  • Implement strategies and training, and employ resources, to drive the continual improvement of scholar results in Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy, across the network. 

Training 

  • Conduct PD sessions for teachers directed at curriculum gaps.
  • Conduct subject specific targeted training for teachers and leaders.
  • Support pre-service and in-service professional development for school leaders and educators on curriculum.

Compliance 

  • To engage and maintain relations with external stakeholders within the Education sphere i.e DOE, DBE, GDE, WCED, Districts, ISASA, UMALUSI, etc 
  • To attend district meetings, compiling documentation and facilitating submissions to maintain healthy relationships with subject advisors, academic compliance manager and other academic compliance officials in the DOE, DBE, GDE, WCED, Districts, ISASA, UMALUSI, etc 
  • Attend academic compliance meetings hosted by Umalusi, Isasa or any other education governing body. 
  • To Support the team responsible for SA-SAMS, CEMIS, and Valistractor submissions to district offices.
  • To attend meetings conducted by SACE, compiling documentation and submitting as requests and undertaking the implementation process with regards to CPTD points. 
  • To uphold, maintain and appropriately store all statutory documents and records related to school compliance.
