Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS): Bursaries 2024
The Department of Water and Sanitation has made available comprehensive bursaries for the 2024 academic year to grade 12 learners who plan to pursue studies in the water and sanitation field. The bursary application which will open for a period of five months, from 01 July to 30 November 2023, targets learners with outstanding academic performance, financial need and the relevant skills set in the sector.
Through the bursaries offered to students, the department then provides employment contracts during which the bursars get relevant workplace exposure and additional training until they are ready to register as professionals with their relevant professional bodies.
Fields of study:
For the 2024 academic year, the department will consider applications only for 1st year students studying towards the following qualifications:
- BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering
- BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering
- BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering
- BSc in Hydrology
- BSc in Geohydrology
- BSc in Environmental Management
- BSc in Environmental Sciences
- BSc in Environmental and Water Sciences
- BSc (Hons) in Hydrology
- BSc (Hons) in Geohydrology
- BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management
- BSc (Hons) in Environmental Sciences
- BSc (Hons) in Environmental and Water Sciences
- National Diploma/BEng Tech in Civil Engineering
- National Diploma/BEng Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- National Diploma/BEng Tech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- National Diploma in Water Care
- National Diploma in Environmental Management
